Mostly fun all this time

A lot of things happened all this time. Most of them for fun. Attended case events, office events, had fun on a long vacation at home (ah!! vacations make life so much easy and relaxed especially after those long working hours at office), saw movies, had gud food at gr8 restaraunts, worked on exciting cases, moved to the new office which adds a lot of things to an already long list of facilities that Bain provides. You know what, my new chair at office costs ~Rs 30K

Had an office offsite at Samode Palace near Jaipur. The whole office, about 60 people attended. Samode's actually a village which used to have a palace, now converted into a five star hotel or something. Am not sure though if it's rated a five star. I personally would rate it as a 4-star after looking at all the facilities etc. that they provided. The whole thing was planned for 2 days and one night. Ok!! All this was in view of the inauguration of the new Bain office in Gurgaon. The smaller old office is now gone. Some of the major attractions were special fireworks for Bain, unlimited champaigne, rajasthani dance arranged for the office, a warm red carpet welcome with beautiful girls showering flowers over all of us and luxurious arrangements for the night stay. Corporates spend a lot on their employees indeed. In case interested, visit http://photos.yahoo.com/akanshk and check the album named Bain Samode offsite.

Had a long 5 day vacation, including a leave that I took from the office on Monday, 16th of August. After working for about 3 complete months now, it was great at home all those days. Gr8 food, no work, everything was so perfect. Even met up with some old friends.

Saw KANK. After all those not-so-good reviews that I got, movie came out gr8. With actors like Amitabh, Shahrukh and now Abhishek, with directors like Karan Johar, movie's extremely entertaining. Most of the people who didn't find the movie worth-a-watch, probably didn't appreciate the story. Now I don't know if it's my personal liking for bollywood but I really liked the story too.

Have been working on a great insurance case - a lot of new learnings. The best part is that am individually staffed directly under a consultant. So, that makes it even more exciting with a whole lot of responsibilities which indirectly implies long working hours. Am surprized to see how consultants work. Most of them do not spend more than 8 hours at home. It's working hours rest of the time. And yes, I have started believing that a B-school does help them in someway. Considering the working hours, the kind of analysis required, being able to handle the stress (one of the important things at B-schools) helps.

But it wasn't just fun all this time. Have been getting frustrated over some things as well. I've made one of my biggest mistakes by taking a shared accomodation. It's just not possible to share a room with someone, be it a great friend. Might move in to some other place if things keep on getting worse (and I really see it getting worse).
